Spoolsv.exe Process Running All The Time And Wasting 50% CPU

» I've found that spoolsv.exe is accorded to printing. When this process is killed or service Printing cache/buffor is stopped, printing is impossible. I tried to switch automatic initialization to manual (in services.msc), but this process doesn't start even I ask any application to print. spoolsv.exe takes all power of one core from mu CPU.

» One of the most common causes of high CPU usage is the use of too many computer applications at one time. This often occurs when an individual is multitasking on his computer. For example, a user may choose to surf the Internet, listen to music, and run a scan for viruses at the same time. Sometimes a person will even attempt to perform word processing tasks while running these other applications and have background programs enabled to check for updates to software. While a computer user may be able to accomplish all of these things at once, having so many applications running can lead to high CPU usage.

In some cases, harmful computer software, referred to as malware, is at fault for high CPUusage. Malware can include viruses(Worm:Win32/Vobfus.DE, for example); spyware, which collects information from a person's computer; and adware, which shows the computer user advertisements. These programs are often at fault when a person is dealing with frequent pop-up ads or notices that his browser is directed to a page he hasn't selected.

After being cleaned by the anti malware software, your system has become messed up in the .exe file system, some .dll files can't be found when you start a program or even the system. To solve this kind of issue, DLL Suite is created with one of its special tool called "Fix EXE Virus", which is specially targeted to fix virus infection problems, such as slow PC performance and high cpu usage.

And you can download the registry editor by clicking MS Tools menu of DLL Suite to download Registry Editor for free. And then do registry cleaning.

Go to Start, Settings and click Control Panel

In the Control Panel window, first double-click on Administrative Tools and then on Services.

In the right pane of the Services window locate and right-click on Print Spooler and then select Stop.

After you have stopped this process, leave the Service window open. Now open My Computer and navigate to the following folder.c:\windows\system32\spool\PRINTERS - in Windows Vista, XP, 98/95/ME

    c:\winnt\system32\spool\PRINTERS - in Windows NT\2000

Delete all the files in the Printers folder. After deleting the files in this folder, go back to Services window, right-click on Print Spooler, and then select startto re-enable the service.

And spoolsv.exe is now transparent, 99% of CPU is free.

  3. SCOTT BEER replied on January 23, 2013: » The only fix I found was:

    1) remove all printer installations.

    2) Get ccleaner from the CNET site. Run the cleaner for temp files and the registry cleaner.

    3) restart machine.

    4) reinstall printers needed.

My 3 month battle with this issue was quite intrusive. This was a small pain. I wish I went there first. Good Luck!

  4. AARON YOUNG replied on January 26, 2013: » I found that if you uninstall all your printers and reinstall the only ones you need using the most up to date drivers then that solves the problem.

  5. DEAN MASTERS replied on January 27, 2013: » I have tried this, but does not work. I am using windows XP sp 3, but still the problem comes repeatedly. (HP M1005) Problem with Spool service. Please let me know if there is something else i need to do.
