SFC.exe Unable to Repair Jscript9.dll

» Not sure what caused this problem, but I would guess that jscript9.dll is corrupt. Internet Explorer and Skype (Win8 and Desktop) wouldn't start, so I ran SFC. The CBS.log mentioned that jscript9.dll could not be repaired. Event viewer doesn't seem to mention anything about jscript9.dll though.

» jscript9.dll is part of Windows Internet Explorer. It’s a hidden system file. Jscript9.dll is usually located in the %SYSTEM% folder and its usual size is 1,800,192 bytes.

SFC (System File Checker) scan is really a super-useful command you can use in any Windows version. Missing and corrupt DLL files) can be fixed by this action quite often. But when the case is virus related, such as PWS:Win32/Fareit, or when the files in cookie have been cleaned away as useless, it will be out of function.

In this case, you need to remove the virus at first, and then fix the error by the downloading the missing file, and then do some remedy to polish the system. Therefore, DLL Suite is introduced to you. It allows you to free download any missing or corrupted .dll file, sys files and exe files. Furthermore, I can make up any losses to the operating system. And it is quite easy to use.

To make it simple, Download DLL Suite, install and run > Click Download DLL - Free menu > click Start Scan & Download DLL - Free button, choose your needed DLL > click More Information > click Download button from the open web page.

And Click Dashboard menu and > Click Scan DLL Errors button > Click Fix DLL Errors button after the scan. And all the problems are fixed.

Do the same for the jscript.dll.

  2. DON KLEIN replied on January 7, 2013: » There does appear to be a problem with the jscript9.dll. The version of the jscript9.dll is 10.0.9200.16453 which would indicate KB2761465 is installed.

KB2761465 updated the jscript9.dll along with some other system files. Can you locate KB2761465 in "Program and Features" > "View installed updates"? Can you check when KB2761465 was installed and can you correlate the appearance of the issue with installing that update?

  3. JESSICA HWANG replied on January 7, 2013: » KB2761465 is not present in Installed Updates. The only one with KB2761... is KB2761094.The problem persists in Safe Mode with Networking.

  4. WILLIAM FISHMAN replied on WILLIAM FISHMAN: » What I might suggest at this point is to uninstall KB2761465 and see if the issue resolves. Afterward you could reinstall KB2761465. As a general precaution create a System Restore Point beforehand.
